Stockholm

After leaving Atlanta at 10:30pm on Friday and stopping through Amsterdam we finally made it to Stocholm around 4:30 on Saturday.  We were greeted at the airport by Renee's friend Ulli who lived in Greenville for a year back in high school.  

We had all slept quite a bit and were antsy from all that sitting and lucky for us our first stop was REALLY cool!! Ulli took us to the Stockholm City Hall.  This is where they have the banquet and awarding of the Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine and Literature! 

She then took us high up in the tower and the views were incredible--such a cool kick off to our European adventure!  

We then stopped by the palace where the king and queen of Sweden live--the garden and castle were beautiful!

We headed on to Ulli's parents house where we had a delicious Swedish meal--potatoes, meatballs, chocolate mudcake and more. Ulli prepared it and it was amazing!

After a miserable quarter of the Auburn vs. LSU game we called it a night.  We were excited to rest up and see Stockholm today! 

Sunday was such a great first day of sight seeing, food, and over all wonderful day.  We took a quick subway ride to downtown Stockholm and began by walking around the Southern part.  We enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful architecture (Stockholm was founded in the 1200s) and even found a geocache!

Quick Fikka break (coffee and sweets!) 

We stopped to rest our feet and for a quick drink at a really nice floating restaurant.  Such a great way to end the day before dinner at a great little Italian restaurant.
